The Real Zombies Aren’t Wearing Costumes This Halloween
نوشتهٔ Owen Shahroozi
In California, the state I proudly call home, hating Trump is the norm for most residents today, so much that not doing it feels like being an outlaw. Who doesn’t hate Trump, right?! But hear me out!
It is the year 1977, two years prior to the disastrous Islamic “Revolution” in Iran, and the people of Iran were turning into walking zombies.
They had free education, a strong economy, and well-paying jobs that allowed them to buy assets like homes and cars in cash. The population that was left behind for decades was rapidly emerging and was getting integrated into the thriving society. They had plenty of time for travel and parties. Citizens elected their representatives through free and fair elections, women stood as equal members of the society, everyone enjoyed full freedom of religion, and the list went on.
Many Iranian students also went to the West for studies on full government-sponsored scholarships and royal charitable grants. Iranians were the largest population of international students in the United States. And with a thriving economy back home, the government felt confident they would return after graduation to serve their country.
Meanwhile abroad, while enjoying these benefits of prosperous Iran, the self-proclaimed “intellectuals” were developing a deep ideology of hate. On the surface, it was rooted in humanitarian causes and democratic values! But deepdown, knowingly or not, they were spiraling with a very strong driver: Fashionable “hate.”
These so-called elites were telling English and French publications that the Shah of Iran executed prisoners and served their flesh to the other inmates! Europeans and Americans read them and convinced themselves that Iranians were living under the world's greatest dictatorship. At the same time, foreign outlets like the BBC ran extensive propaganda campaigns throughout Iran via their Persian-language broadcasts.
Many of these propagandists—educated, university-credentialed Iranians—later confessed that they felt justified in telling any lie, no matter how extreme, because of the sheer hatred that had been built up inside them. It was a hatred manufactured entirely by a cycle of lies, driven by the media, and instigated outside of Iran by the powers that didn’t want the Shah due to his increasing influence. When asked why they lied, they admitted that this built-up hatred made them feel entitled to use any means necessary, ethical or otherwise.
Fast-forward to 2026. News censorship in America and everywhere else is completely legal, simply because the media is under no legal obligation to cover a story it doesn't want to cover. That holds true even if the story is the largest mass killing of human beings in history in a single event after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in August 1945.
This is not a hypothetical. It actually happened.
In January of this year, protests in Iran reached their peak, and Trump eventually came out and publicly declared his support for the protesters, much like Obama voiced support during the Arab Spring, which amplified the momentum of those movements and helped bring down several regimes within months. The combination of Trump’s backing and protesters chanting “Javid Shah” (Long Live the Shah), which was seen as a total repudiation of the Islamic Republic and a clear demand to return to the pre-revolutionary system, put the Regime in panic mode. In response, they immediately boxed in streets packed with millions of demonstrators using military vans mounted with DShK heavy machine guns and forces bearing assault rifles and Winchester shotguns. The IRGC forces and the non-Iranian militia they had imported for this job, mowed people down in the streets in cold blood and hunted wounded protesters right into hospital wards to finish them off with execution shots. Several nurses were shot and taken for questioning for merely doing their job of caring for the wounded. Simultaneously the regime shut down the internet across the entire country and created a blackout for 92 million people that lasted about four months to stop any footage and news from leaking out. NetBlocks called it the longest nationwide internet shutdown ever recorded, and the Internet Society's shutdown tracker treats January 8 to May 26 as one 137-day shutdown.
Western media was aware of these troubling stories yet chose to offer only superficial coverage. Hiding behind the excuse that the internet blackout prevented them from verifying details, they settled for parroting the regime's own fabricated numbers and narratives. How could media outlets that spend 24 hours a day broadcasting hatred against Trump possibly report that the enemy of their enemy, was still an evil force. The Islamic Republic, Trump’s biggest enemy abroad, had just massacred tens of thousands of people, committing various atrocities that go against every value loudly promoted by the media that is used to demonize Trump. But any coverage of those atrocities could have helped Trump justify his actions. That was not to be the outcome, so they decided to play it safe by leaning into silence.
Iranians on the ground estimate that over 100,000 people perished in just two days on January 8 and 9, 2026, with an average age between 20 and 23 (read that again!) At a recent campaign rally in Kansas, President Trump said the regime has killed at least 75,000 protesters, and as president, he has access to the latest US intelligence. We cannot dismiss these numbers lightly. Meanwhile, independent human rights monitors such as Iran Human Rights and HRANA have verified thousands of confirmed fatalities, while international outlets like AFP and Amnesty International have called for international accountability.
Hundreds of thousands more are believed to have been blinded, maimed, or disabled for life, and daily executions are ongoing to this date. In terms of sheer intensity (largest number in shortest time), what happened in Iran this year was the largest mass killing of civilians since Hiroshima, pushing the atomic bombing of Nagasaki into third place. Put another way, an event more than 30 times the scale of 9/11 took place, and the mainstream media failed to properly inform the American public. Expanding on this news was not in their political interest.
If this is the first time you are learning about this critical world news, now you know why you didn’t know. As an American and a world citizen you have every right to be shocked, ashamed, and feel betrayed by your media, but most of all we all should be furious.
The average American hasn't heard a word about this. Meanwhile, the hate-infested partisans genuinely believe they are living under a dictatorship and that Trump is the worst human being on the face of the earth. They just haven’t quite worked up the nerve yet to claim Trump is executing prisoners and feeding their flesh to other inmates, as claimed by the intellectuals’ of pre-revolution Iran against the Shah.
The zombie has been programmed to believe he lives in a dictatorship, and that to fight it, he must oppose the "dictator" the media has presented to him: Trump! Therefore, to the zombie, anyone Trump supports must be evil, and anyone who opposes Trump must be good. There is no need for the zombies to do their homework. They are fed the line, and they walk it mindlessly.
Today, many affluent Californians sit in comfort, convinced they are living under tyranny, hating Trump to their very bones. Where do they get their information? From the same dishonest media outlets that are powerful enough to hide monumental global atrocities from your eyes while planting politically convenient hatred in your mind. For that trick to work, you first must be turned into a zombie, just like the people of Iran fifty years ago.
A few days ago at a gathering, I heard from an articulate, supremely confident guest that the Trump administration's government efficiency expense cuts caused more damage to America than the COVID-19 virus. Think about that: claiming Trump's budget cuts did more harm than a pandemic that shut down the country for 2-3 years, took roughly 1.2 million American lives, cost up to $16 trillion in lost output and relief spending, and wiped out 22 million jobs in just two months. By almost every objective metric inside the United States, that claim is wild hyperbole. Yet some people want to believe the lie. Never forget becoming a zombie starts in the brain, even if you happen to be a university professor, a doctor, or an engineer in a high-tech company.
Somewhere else, I overheard two people discussing why requiring a photo ID to vote is terrible and “disrespectful” to citizens, even though requiring identification to vote is basic common sense everywhere else in the world. They weren't even debating whether the measure itself was good or not; instead they were actively trying to convince each other why they had to abandon common sense and follow whatever the “Machine” dictated to them.
I saw two zombies there and didn't even bother intervening, because their minds seemed hardwired. In pre-revolutionary Iran, you couldn't possibly persuade the zombies that they were mistaken either. Hearing that conversation becomes even more painful when you realize it was taking place between a public school teacher and a business owner.
This is the moment you watch critical thinking fade away. People operating on autopilot, and by sitting around rationalizing why they must obey the Machine, they make themselves feel good and intellectual, like well-behaved zombies.
On September 29, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the same guys that have the blood of Iranians and Americans on their hands, published a 26-page open letter to “the honorable people of the United States of America.” It tells you that your “officials and their media are lying” about Iran, and that the claim “the government is massacring its own people“ is “a lie.” It blames January's dead on the CIA and Mossad. Then it tells you to “wake up” and use your votes to “remove from power” the politicians it blames, naming Trump about two dozen times. So there are your clues: The regime encourages you to act against the US President and the people he endorses, and says the massacre is a lie. Our media that hates Trump, barely told you it happened. At the same time, Human Rights investigators have published thousands of verified names, and the toll increases by the day.
Remember that HATRED is the fuel for the evil and LIES are the vehicle, and now the men who own both want your ballot. Check the facts, then decide who has been lying to you. When you realize that you’ve been cheated by the media you were passively trusting to bring truth to your homes, you will start seeing realities differently. On November 3rd, please respect the human in you and side with the youth who gave blood for their freedom, not their murderers. Use IRGC guidelines to the US Citizens exactly for how you should not vote, and together let’s get off the zombie train before it's too late.

NOTE ON DEATH TOLLS
Verified death registries compiled by Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) documented 4,219 confirmed names — the result of months of cross-referencing sources.[1] The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) independently confirmed 7,010 fatalities within the first 49 days alone.[2] Major wire services including the Associated Press reported counts exceeding 6,000 to 7,000 within weeks of the crackdown.[8][9] President Trump himself publicly cited the massacre multiple times: 32,000 dead in February,[15] 100,000 by August,[16] 72,000 during addressing at United Nations General Assembly in September,[17] and 75,000 in October.[18] The true toll — still obscured by an 88-day internet blackout and a regime that controls morgues, hospitals, and death certificates — remains unknown. Every number above is a floor, not a ceiling, and these numbers grow as more data is collected.
